I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mother. I remember how she would set up her easel and paints in the kitchen, and with a photo or post card in hand, she would paint away: forests, landscapes, and mountains. Also, here in Canada, May is when we celebrate Mother’s Day.  May is also when my son was born. My early memory of my Aunt Lilie was that she used to babysit me. She would cart me around with her wherever she would go, whether it was shopping or preparing for choir practice, she would always make me feel important and included me in whatever she was doing.
